Shipping Terms and Conditions

At Miniature Highland Calves, we strive to make the process of getting your new calf as easy and safe as possible, no matter where you are located. Whether you’re choosing to have your calf shipped to you or prefer to pick up your calf in person, we ensure that all shipping is handled with the utmost care and safety. Below are the shipping terms and conditions for both options:

Shipping Options:

You have two options for receiving your Miniature Highland Calf:

  1. Air Shipping to a Major Airport: We can ship your calf directly to the nearest major airport to your location.
  2. In-Person Pickup: You may choose to travel to our farm, pick up your calf in person, and then fly back with your calf as carry-on luggage.

Please note that most airlines require that your calf be at least 9 weeks old at the time of travel and that a Health Certificate is provided for each shipment.

Health and Care Prior to Shipping:

Before your calf is shipped, it will have received its first set of vaccinations. We also ensure that your calf has been thoroughly examined by a veterinarian and is healthy for travel. When the full balance is received for your calf and we have the necessary documentation (including the litter’s registration application from the relevant registry), we will mail you a packet that includes the following:

  • Calf’s health certificate
  • Registration paperwork (if applicable)
  • Vaccination records
  • Microchip details
  • A care guide to help you with your new calf’s needs

Veterinary Care After Arrival:

Upon receiving your calf, we advise that you take it to your personal veterinarian within 72 hours for a full health check. Your calf will need follow-up vaccinations, which are due within 21 days of its first vaccination. The vaccination record you receive will detail the first vaccination and provide the necessary information for your veterinarian to continue care.

Shipping Process:

Rest assured, shipping your calf via air is safe and routine. We have had no negative experiences with the health of calves during transport. Flight travel times are typically short, and we ensure that your calf is well-cared for throughout the process, both during handling and ground transport. The airline personnel are experienced with transporting animals, and all airlines follow strict guidelines for the safe and humane transport of pets.

We will take care of all shipping arrangements, including booking the flight, coordinating necessary paperwork, and ensuring the proper shipping container is provided. We also pay for all shipping costs, including airfare, a pet carrier, and a valid 10-day Health Certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian.

You will be provided with a complete flight itinerary several days prior to shipment. Your calf will be shipped prepaid, meaning we cover all expenses on our end. Once your calf is shipped, it will be insured with the airline for its travel.

Picking Up Your Calf:

When the calf arrives at your destination airport, you will need to pick it up. You will receive detailed instructions about where to pick up your calf. The pickup location depends on the airline:

  • For Authentic Airlines shipments, your calf will typically be available for pickup at the ticket counter or baggage claim area.
  • For Air Cargo shipments, you may need to pick up your calf at the Air Cargo service facility at the airport.

We will provide the airline with your contact information (name, home address, email, phone number, and alternate contact), and personal identification is usually required when picking up your calf.

International Shipping:

We ship Miniature Highland Calves anywhere in the world, following all relevant customs regulations and guidelines. For shipments to locations within the Continental United States, Canada, and Alaska, shipping is routine and safe. We primarily ship through trusted airlines, such as Authentic Airlines or Delta Airlines, but we will use the best available option for international shipments.

Temperature Control and Comfort:

The airlines we work with use acclimatized temperature-controlled environments for both air and ground transport. This ensures that there are no temperature restrictions for shipments. However, we do try to ship via United Airlines when possible, as they offer excellent conditions for animal transport.

Final Notes:

Shipping your Miniature Highland Calf is a safe and straightforward process. We coordinate all aspects of the shipment and ensure that your calf travels comfortably and arrives healthy and happy. We are committed to making the experience seamless for you, from booking the flight to delivering your calf to your doorstep.
